“…I free you this day from the chains that were on your hand…”

Jeremiah 40:3 NKJ

Free at last! Not only does the Lord promise deliverance and removal of all chains, He also assures that those chains will never be put back on: … the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever (Ex. 14:13-14). In other words: “The problems you have been facing up to now, you will never have to face again forever.” To one who has been bound in chains, that is good news!

He was sitting there in the alley, dejected and miserable, and I recognized him from years before. I asked him what he was doing here in this condition and he merely opened his mouth exposing the decay of his teeth. What once had been a beautiful human being was now the prisoner of drugs.

I sat down beside him in this alley and began to speak about the very love of Christ that would deliver him forever. Our freedom has been purchased. Christ has already come so that we could be eternally free. That is the freedom of “Advent” !
