…. faint, yet pursuing…. Judges 8:4
I just watched the Packers win the Super Bowl and I thought of this text. I have read someplace that fatique can improve the performance of an athlete. I watched as the defense lost some of its most important players to injury. This put an unexpected pressure on others, you could see them grow weary during the third quarter. Supposedly getting tired during a contest moves them from reason to instinct. They are able to accomplish things automatically or instinctively that they would not normally be able to do if they were relying on their mental process.
“Faint yet pursuing” is used to describe the condition of the three hunderd men assigned by God to Gideon to fight for Israel. This army was exhausted and yet if they were to accomplish their goal they had no choice but to continue the pursuit.
The dream of victory and smell of success motivated them to continue. This army was willing to forgo the usual things of life in order to press, reach forward for their goal. This story should encourage every intercessor.
There are times when we need to have Gideon’s mentality. Somtimes, though we are exhausted we are still in pursuit, with victory in our sight, the enemy on the run, and only a few more hours (minutes) are needed. “Faint yet pursuing” does reveal that there is a “second wind” that comes to those who are nearing a victory.
Several weeks ago I sensed that we were to unite in prayer. I have witnessed many supernatrual interventions in the lives of many people. I am convinced that this is a result of an increase in prayer. I realize that each of you are busy and many times tired when you have a moment to pray, but I want to encourage you, your prayers are vital to the lives of many people.
I know that the “pattern of prayer” is simply but it is very effective. I want to ask you again, to down load it daily and pray it as often as you can through out your day. We are making a difference and the reports are “supernatural.”
