Love is more that an emotion it is the offering of self. The God who is Himself love, has offered himself to as he created us in his image. He continued to offer himself to and for us through the work of His death and resurrection. And he continually offers himself to us in prayer.

It is through prayer that we draw near to God and he draws near to us to make his home in us. Prayer then is so much more that ask God to fix something in this world, though we have that privilege and he certainly does. Prayer is the mystery of coming into the Presence of the incomprehensible God and allowing him to continue to create his own image in us.

Thus prayer is a state of being; being in union, communion with the very Glory of God. It is here in this mystery of becoming one with God that He himself becomes my prayer. It is here in the intimacy of our union that he prays for me. Prayer then is not my offering, but his; not my sacrifice but His. In this place it is no longer I, but Him who lives and prays and loves.

Hence, prayer is it’s own aim, goal and reward. Prayer is its own answer.
